Welcome to “He calls me Grandma. . .” This blog will be written by Dot’s Daughters. Our mother is a victim of Alzheimer’s related dementia. She has good days and bad days. Some days she’s just plain funny! This will document her mostly funny days.
This past weekend while visiting, my mother was telling us that the previous night she had a “new” light installed in her dining room. (This actually never happened, the old light is still hanging in there!) She told my daughter and me that we know the person who installed it, but she couldn’t remember his name. Well after some prodding, we asked her what she could tell us about him in order for us to know who it was. My mother thought for a moment and then said “He calls me Grandma (hence, the name of this blog) and he was born 26 years ago.” Well, immediately I asked her if she was talking about Adam (my nephew, her grandson) and she said “Yes! That’s who it was.” She then asked my daughter if she knew him and when my daughter said that yes, he’s my cousin, my mother became very confused. She responded with a very annoyed “Who knows what you call each other these days!”
